NORTHROP & JOHNSON CHARTER YACHT AXIA NAMED BEST REFIT SAILING YACHT OVER 100 FEET

Built in 1990, AXIA is an exceptional sailing yacht featuring stunning design and impeccable performance. In 2014, she was sent to Front Street Shipyard in the U.S. for a refit, which subsequently turned her into a St. Barth’s Bucket championship yacht. Prior to the refit AXIA had a shallower draft wing keel. During the refit, Langan Design Partners modified the keel to a high aspect, deeper, more efficient fin keel and added a high aspect spade rudder which improved her sailing performance. The design change resulted in AXIA winning the first prize trophy for her class, “les Grand Dames des Mers” and second place overall, at the 2015 St. Barths Bucket.

In addition to her newly earned performance and racing prowess, AXIA is an exquisite luxury sailing yacht well suited for charter. Three elegantly appointed cabins welcome six guests in complete comfort. She features a traditional interior and her alfresco deck spaces are well suited for socializing and entertaining. AXIA is a world cruiser that currently is available for the winter season in the Caribbean and will be available this summer in New England.
