TURNING HEADS AT SEA

Despite the international acclaim, one of the most exciting Guido de Groot Design projects may very well be the least well known.

“The fast semi-displacement motor yacht LUCIA M is one of the best-kept secrets sailing around in our design portfolio of mega yachts,” says Guido de Groot.  “Despite a length of 39 meters, she is not only one of the largest yachts carried out by our design team, but also she is certainly a showcase in terms of our exterior styling capabilities with her complex and fluid shapes.”  The yacht’s exterior and interior were designed in close cooperation with her experienced European owner whose lifelong ambition was to own a Dutch-built aluminum custom yacht.

“She is very roomy for a light displacement and fast yacht,” says de Groot. “The distinctive design has a raised pilothouse, positioned rather far forward, which generates a lot of space on the open-air deck above. Still, this yacht offers a generous amount of interior space.” Both the master and VIP cabins are full beam; LUCIA M comfortably accommodates up to eight guests and six crewmembers. To achieve an elegant and sleek profile while maintaining ample headroom aboard, the spaces between ceilings and floors of each deck were kept as small as possible. The large engine room is equipped with powerful engines that propel LUCIA M to a top speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots.

Her interior design boasts a modern style comprising carefully selected gray tones. The exterior decks are clean with the large tender; all of the water toys stored out of sight in the stern garage. No cranes or additional equipment are visible to distract the eye from the yacht’s elegant lines.

LUCIA M was build by Jongert Shipyard in Holland and delivered in 2011, and she complies with RINA and MCA standards.
