Yacht Broker Philip Bell takes us through the ins & outs of the impressive & impeccable motor yacht COCKTAILS.
The magnificent motor yacht COCKTAILS was originally launched from Trinity Yachts as JANIE in 2004. She was destined to return home seven years later, in 2011, to embark on an extensive refit with a brave new vision in mind. COCKTAILS re-emerged nine months later — in early 2012 — with an impressive, stylish look, completely upgraded systems and an improved layout, solidifying her as an unparalleled charter option among the latest motor yachts.
The striking use of rich, dark-wood flooring, cappuccino onyx and beautiful white-leather paneling gives COCKTAILS a progressive and contemporary feel. The clever placement of deco accessories and paintings fills you with curiosity to see what lies around the next corner.
Prior to purchasing COCKTAILS — which was named CHEVY TOY at the time — the owner already had big plans for her transformation. Once the yacht was opened up, and the old interior was removed, it was easy to see her full potential. Howard Dearmas Group of Miami, Florida, led the design and remodeling of the yacht with continuous guidance and direction from her new owner. Entering the main salon through the aft doors, COCKTAILS features an expansive main deck that stretches forward, offering guests uninterrupted space, basked in natural light. Leaping out in the distance at the forward end of the room and gracing the custom-made, fractured class dining room table is a bespoke Britto painting, mounted to an elegant wall of beveled mirrors — this truly unique touch tops off a very impressive transformation.
COCKTAILS is capable of accommodating 12 guests, between the on-deck master, three king-size suites and one beautifully finished twin room, which also can be opened up with the adjoining king cabin, to create a large VIP suite. The master stateroom features a handsome dual bathroom with a freestanding tub set in front of a large, elongated window that drenches the room in sunlight. The entire bathroom was completely gutted and extended to clear the way for this luxury penthouse feel.
The skylounge is an elegantly casual, social space — traces of the main salon have migrated here. The spectacular oversized windows with raised arches allow for unobstructed views, and the recessed ceiling coffers set the mood with a clever use of accent lighting, creating a much more relaxed and low-key environment with a games table, state-of-the-art entertainment system and fully equipped bar. It is the alluring sundeck, however, where guests are likely to spend much of their time. This area showcases the greatest transformation from the old layout. Relocating the crane from the center of the deck to the port side was essential in adding more usable space and
freeing up this area for guest use. Now, COCKTAILS has similar exterior deck space to that of a much larger yacht.
Other changes include the addition of two half-moon shaped bars, the repositioning of the Jacuzzi further aft to add more sun pad area around the forward edge and a relaxed seating area under the arch, as a finishing touch. The effect is astonishing and the same luxurious finishes, as found in the interior, surround guests. Below decks, COCKTAILS is powered by two caterpillar 3512 engines situated in a spacious, walk-around chrome-plated engine room. She can run at 22 knots or cruise comfortably at 19. At 154 feet, drawing 6.8 feet, COCKTAILS offers both comfortable speed and power. She also is outfitted with a bevy of tenders and toys to keep everyone on board busy. COCKTAILS is mothership to a 35-foot Intrepid and 18-foot Novurania and her onboard toy chest is kitted out with two Yamaha WaveRunners, wakeboards, water skis, inflatable towables and fishing and snorkeling gear.
From sundeck to keel, COCKTAILS has personality and style in spades. She’s easy to fall in love with and every guest will disembark with a smile, because there are few finer things in life than sharing COCKTAILS with friends.
