“While brand new yachts are always exciting, I was impressed by the quality of some of the refitted vessels, such as BINA or THE WELLESLEY, and was awed by MALAHNE, a gentleman’s yacht originally launched in 1937, which has just been re-launched after a rebuild that restored her former glory,” said Northrop & Johnson Charter Director Fiona Maureso. “Of the new yachts, RUYA, SOLIS and COCOA BEAN stood out from the crowd, while the 163-foot Christensen CASINO ROYALE – proudly represented by N&J – also was much admired.”
The MYBA Charter Show is an opportunity for Northrop & Johnson charter brokers, not only to inspect yachts on behalf of clients, but also to bring themselves up to speed on changes within the industry or new cruising destinations. This year’s seminars focused on revisions to the MYBA Charter Agreement, which are just coming into force, and on Cuba and Norway as up-and-coming summer destinations.
Fine dining also is an increasingly important aspect of superyacht charter and, through private lunches on many of the yachts, Northrop & Johnson’s brokers were able to experience for themselves the quality of the cuisine and service offered by each yacht. In addition, a high-profile Chefs’ Competition, judged by Michelin-starred chefs and industry experts, highlighted the incredible talents and wide repertoire of yacht chefs today.
