The jewelry industry kicked off 2019 with the Centurion Jewelry Show in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jewelers from all over the world came to the three-day event to showcase their latest collections to retailers and suppliers. Northrop & Johnsons’ Head of Strategic Partnerships Daniel Wade and Luxury Lifestyle Editor Doug Gollan were in attendance to report on the latest trends in fine jewelry for the season.
Dedicated to the creation and design of fine jewelry for women, leading Italian designers Casato Gioielli were on fine form during Centurion with a large showcase of their finest pieces from both the Venus and Vie en Rose collections.
The Long Island-based Charles Krypell showcased one-of-a-kind precious stone and metal jewelry pieces. The designer specializes in collections that incorporate natural fancy colored pink, yellow, and white diamonds in platinum and 18K gold. The highlighting piece from their latest collection was the baguette-cut sapphire ring, where the sapphire is accompanied by white diamonds set in 18K white gold.
New York-based jeweler Christopher Designs showcased a bright addition to the patented L’Amour Crisscut classic collection with a pair of lever back earrings with the L’Amour Crisscut 3.63ct fancy yellow diamond surrounded by 1.58ct of round cut diamonds in 18K titanium.
Fred Leighton’s jewelry draws inspiration from historical periods. From the 1700s to the 1970s each piece perfectly embodies the essence of a particular historical time period. On display, a Centurion was a wide variety of pieces ranging from vintage Hollywood glam and 1920s flapper to party-perfect art deco and chic bohemian.
Gumuchian combines traditional European craftsmanship with fashion-forward designs. Designed by women for women their pieces hone the essence of luxury and embody the beauty of women. A show-stopping piece at Centurion was their black-tie earring, which is perfect for formal affairs. Set in 18K white gold the stunning earrings sparkle with 114 round brilliant diamonds and are approximately 5.62ct in weight. The corset bracelet was another brilliant piece on display. Showcasing 202 round brilliant cut diamonds in 18K yellow gold the bracelet is the perfect addition for an evening out.
Award-winning Turkish designer Gurhan delivered a superb selection of stunning pieces, including a pair of beautiful cluster drop and tassel earring and matching pendant necklace. The earrings are 24K gold and feature 90 black and grey briolette diamonds on a couture hook. The necklace features 60 black and grey briolette diamonds on a 16-inch to an 18-inch 22K chain with mini lobster clasp. Worn together or separately, these pieces are perfect for day or night.
JEFFREY DANIELS UNIQUE DESIGNS AND GEM PLATINUM
Jeffrey Daniels Unique Designs and Gem Platinum are stunning, unique and timeless. Each piece is the finest quality and made for now and forever. A shining star at Centurion was the Trillion Diamond Necklace. Showcasing 89 multi-natural diamond set in 18K gold, the Riviera-style necklace is the perfect accessory, whether it be day or night.
Making a statement at the show was New York-based third-generation jeweler Kwiat. Among their finest modern and vintage-style pieces, the favorite was their Ashoka diamond and emerald earrings in 3.3K platinum.
New York-based jeweler LJ West came to the show to offer the latest additions to their Modern Deco Collection. One of the most stunning pieces is the Fancy Blue and Pink radiant cut diamond ring. The 1.01ct emerald is a vivid bluish-green diamond VS2 set in platinum and 18K white gold accented by 10 pink emerald-cut diamonds weighing 1.31cts and 32 white round diamonds weighing 0.77ct, as well as six straight white baguettes weighing 0.62cts.
Convertible jewelry was a hot trend at the Centurion Show, and Mastoloni led the pack with their Sorrento Collection featuring stunning interchangeable pearl pieces. Highlights include the Caprice Multiway Eclipse earrings with 9-9.5mm Black Round Tahitian pearls with white diamonds set in 18K white gold (also available with freshwater pearls). Wear with Sorrento Collection’s convertible necklace/bracelet featuring 8-8.5 white Akoya pearls with omega stations set in diamonds (1.52ct) in 18K white gold, and the Mastoloni Signature Collection Cestino Ring featuring an 11mm black Tahitian pearl eclipsed with rows of white diamonds (0.81ct) set in 18K white gold.
Penny Preville has emerged as an award-winning jewelry designer whose signature style is defined by femininity, luxury, and an eye for intricate detail. At Centurion, Preville showed several examples of her designs, including a pair of fabulous chandelier style and hoop style diamond earrings, as well as everyday elegant diamond rings, necklaces, bangles and cuffs. Highlights included the Starburst Collection, featuring the stunning Starburst Ring with a 0.72ct diamond emerald cut center diamond and rays, set in an 18K gold band, and the beautiful 18K gold Starburst Necklace with 1.69ct diamond rays.
Pluczenik is renowned for its extraordinary strength in rare large diamonds, its unrivaled range of stones in all sizes and qualities and its beautiful jewelry designs. The Centurion Show saw the largest diamond company in the world showcasing pieces from the Plevé Collection, including a pair of 18K white gold earrings with two round brilliant diamonds with a star design surrounded by pave diamonds; a pair of brilliant diamond earrings with a swirl of sunrays in pave diamonds, set in 18K white gold; and an 18K white gold ring with a trio of round brilliant diamonds with one larger center, with diamonds spraying out from the sides. The highlight piece was the Plevé necklace with a Sun Sign design featuring a round brilliant diamond center encased in an eight-prong star and a swirl of diamond rays. From ray tip to ray tip it measures 37 millimeters. All 18K yellow gold on a chain with 2.1ct of diamonds.
Los Angeles-based Simon G unveiled a collection of vintage-inspired pieces during the Centurion Show, featuring rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Highlights from the latest collection include an 18K white gold ring set with 0.35cts of white round diamonds and 0.75cts of white baguette diamonds; a glamorous 18K white gold oval halo ring featuring round and pear-shaped accent diamonds; a unique 18K white gold ring wrap with a solitaire design, interchangeable with other center rings; and a two-tone 18K gold ring containing 2.64cts of princess cut diamonds in the patented Simon-set technique, bordered by pink diamonds in rose gold.
Specializing in bracelets, Sylvia Kontente took center stage with their Wave Collection. Available in both a hand-engraved finish and bright polish finish, the18K yellow or white gold “Wave” bracelet with diamond set wave design is the perfect piece for your next cruise along Italy’s Amalfi coast.
