One of Northrop & Johnson’s favorite watchmakers, Richard Mille, has launched a reinterpretation of its iconic rectangular timepiece, with the RM 16-02 Automatic Extraflat. The new model represents a significant evolution in Richard Mille’s well-loved rectangular design, blending technical sophistication with contemporary aesthetics.

Defining Richard Mille’s aesthetic, the visually striking design has a resolutely brutalist style with straight lines and a monolithic structure. The bold design has been merged with a new in-house movement, designed specifically for this model. The CRMA9 is the 15th addition to the watchmaker’s family of movements. It features a titanium baseplate and bridges, with a platinum rotor visible through the sapphire caseback. The movements skeletonized design maximizes light influx, showcasing the intricate mechanics within.

Aesthetically, the watch’s dial incorporates a unique design element with hour markers that seem to flow through the openwork movement, creating an optical illusion that establishes a relationship between the watch and the wearer.

Available in two case materials – the classic Grade 5 titanium with a satin finish and polished bevels, or Terracotta Quartz TPT, the RM 16-02 Automatic Extraflat boasts a power reserve of approximately 50 hours and is water resistant up to 30 meters.  richardmille.com
