Being on time never looked so good. Navigator brings you news on the latest limited editions and one-of-a-kind designs
Winner of two German Design Awards, Louis Moinet’s Skylink combines art, watchmaking, and astronomy, while celebrating the July 17, 1975 space docking of the Soyuz 19 and Apollo and the reminder that, even during the height of the Cold War, we were all connecting as residents of Planet Earth.
On your wrist is a microcapsule containing a fragment of Kapton foil and fibers from the Russian Sokol-K spacesuit. Skylink features an automatic LM45 caliber movement designed and manufactured by Louis Moinet with a 48-hours power reserve in a 30.40-by-6.70mm case decorated with Côtes de Genève, diamond-polished facets, and circular-grained wheels.
Richard Mille revisits the multi-award-winning RM 012 with the RM 12-01 Tourbillon in four limited-edition tripartite case combinations: Black Carbon TPT, red Quartz TPT, white Quartz TPT, and gold and carbon TPT.
Technical specifications include a manual winding tourbillon movement in a 48-by-39.3-by-13.84mm case with 708 hours of power reserve. Each is presented on a rubber strap with a titanium clasp.
Offered in 18-karat red gold, 18-karat white gold, and platinum 46-by-16mm case, Bovet’s Bovet Virtuoso IX Double Time Zone 10-Day Power ReserveBigDate Flying Tourbillon features the Amadeo convertible system enabling you to use the timepiece as a wristwatch, pocket watch or desk clock. It features off-center hours, minutes and seconds tourbillon, big date, power reserve indicator, and a second timezone with 24-hour hand and 24-city disc.
With 419 components, the Dual Time Resonance Sapphire by Armin Strom combines two completely independent time indications with the increased precision of two independent movements in resonance with a 360-degree display.
The timepiece is housed in a 59-by-43.4-by-15.9mm transparent sapphire crystal case on a black alligator strap and stainless-steel double-folding clasp. Power reserve indicators on each of the hand-guilloche dials and a 24-hour indication at six o’clock complete the indications.
The house says that the resonance in watch and clock movements with synchronized coupled oscillators improves accuracy by averaging slight differences in the precision of each movement and, in the instance of wristwatches, minimizes adverse effects of shocks on precision.
Marked by its curved, oval, and slightly elongated case with 246 components, Breguet’s Reine de Naples is adorned with mother-of-pearl in hues of pink and mauve with small off-center seconds.
A manufacture caliber with moon phase ticks inside this limited edition piece of which only 28 exist. The dial is dressed in iridescent pale pink mother-of-pearl. A moon and several stars in white gold take their place against the deeper pink of the moon-phase indicator.
The pink cabochon-cut sapphire set on the crown lends a sparkling touch, while the mauve-colored alligator leather strap adds to this romantic palette.
Glashütte Original is offering a limited edition of 50 for its PanoMatic Luna Rubin. The model is studded with diamonds and rubies, which, with its classic moon phase display on a red Louisiana alligator leather strap together with a refined pin buckle, ensures a secure and stylish fit.
The Calibre 90-12 automatic movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. The dial is mother-of-pearl white with Arabic numerals.
Available in two 10-piece limited editions in 5N red gold or titanium, Italian Renaissance painter of angels Fra Angelico inspires Christophe Claret for a contemporary tribute to the quest for precision shown by the 18th-century marine chronometers.
Claret combines a tourbillon with a long detent escapement with a cable-type fusée transmission system. This mechanical feat is complemented by an instant jump dual-time display, complete with day/night and 72-hour power-reserve indications.
For the superyacht owner, it will be reminiscent of the days when watchmakers were competing to create a precise time-measuring instrument to determine a ship’s exact geographical position at sea.
Time is what one makes of it. This is certainly true of the Vanguard Crazy Hours Lady from Franck Muller, which offers a unique reading of time, showing hour numerals in unconventional order made of 166 components and 24 jewels.
Thanks to a patented mechanism, the central hour hand jumps from one hour to the next. The collection is designed to express the concept of time as an abstract construct. Set in an 18-karat rose gold 32-42.3-by-9.9mm case, it is water-resistant up to 30 meters.
Functions include the central jumping hour hand, central minutes, and seconds powered by a self-winding mechanical movement with a 40-hour power reserve.
