Ulysse Nardin celebrates 175 years with a Marine Torpilleur fleet — Ideal for yachtsmen
Northrop & Johnson’s strategic partner Ulysse Nardin is celebrating 175 years of expertise in watchmaking. In tribute to the brand and its heritage, the leading Swiss watchmaking house has created a new Marine Torpilleur collection. The squadron of seven new Marine Torpilleur models is a showcase of the brand’s Haute Horlogerie savoir-faire and techniques that have guided Ulysse Nardin brand aficionados on their unique voyages through life since 1846. Originally launched in 2017, the Marine Torpilleur is an avatar of Ulysse Nardin’s roots and history and joins a long line of illustrious Marine Collection chronometers of the 19th century – designed by the watchmaker for explorers who roamed the world, their deck chronometers being an essential tool in their navigation.
The Marine Torpilleur is an embodiment of the watchmaker’s innovative and far-thinking creativity, and what better way to celebrate their heritage than by enlarging the collection. Adding two new movements, complications, chronographs, and enameled dials to the collection, all seven of the new models are produced in limited editions. All bear the codes of Ulysse Nardin’s historical Marine Chronometers, including the fluted bezel, Roman numerals and a double counter, but each model has a unique look and its own design. Along with the Marine Torpilleur Blue Enamel, which has become an icon in itself, the distinctive looks include the Panda, the Moonphase White, the Moonphase Blue, the Chronograph White, the Chronograph Blue, and the Tourbillon Grand Feu Enamel in black with rose gold. Set with an Alligator leather strap, they are also compatible with the R-Strap which is made from recycled fishing nets. The latter was featured in Navigator’s dedicated Sustainability issue and is a reminder of how Northrop & Johnson’s partners are all aligned in efforts to protect our great oceans.
