Northrop & Johnson announces a $265,000 price reduction on SORCERER II, the 95’ high-performance composite racing yacht built by Cookson Boats and designed by German Frers. She is now asking $985,000 and is listed for sale with Yacht Brokers Elizabeth Swain and Hank Halsted.
SORCERER II has a rich history, having been owned by genome scientist Craig Venter, who outfitted her for The Global Ocean Sampling Expedition. She has sailed through 23 countries and across four continents, proving her durability in both scientific exploration and top-tier racing.
Her lightweight composite construction and powerful sail plan, managed through an in-boom furling system, captive reel winches, and hydraulic furlers, make her easy to handle, whether racing or cruising. The cable steering system offers precise sensitivity under sail, while a hydraulic autopilot provides effortless control. With a 6,000-mile range under power and limitless potential under sail, she is a proven global voyager.
The interior is designed for long-haul comfort, accommodating up to eight guests in three staterooms. The full-beam aft master suite features a king berth, ensuite head with a full-size tub and separate shower. Two twin guest staterooms can convert to queen beds, and additional Pullman berths add flexibility. The raised main salon, with panoramic windows, a dining area for six, and a wet bar, creates a welcoming social space, while the lower salon provides a cozy retreat with a library and theater setup.
Exterior spaces are just as well considered, with an aft cockpit shaded by a Bimini, a guest cockpit with cushioned seating under a dodger, and a helm station designed for efficiency and control. The aft cockpit includes a scuba tank filling station, supporting underwater exploration. A tender is securely stowed on the foredeck, and hydraulic windlasses manage twin anchors for effortless mooring.
SORCERER II has been continuously upgraded, with recent refits including new fitted carpets, refreshed salon covers, updated exterior canvas, and a new oven and dryer in 2024. Her topsides were repainted in 2023, alongside a full bottom job servicing the prop, shaft, thrusters, and zincs. The mast and boom have been freshly painted, and new North 3DI sails were added in 2019. She is equipped with shore power adaptors for global connectivity and is transitioning to Lithium Iron Phosphate DC power for greater efficiency.
