TWO was on the market since her successful sea trials in 2012. She is the second hull of the Alia 82 series. Despite aggressive marketing campaigns by several brokerages since 2012, TWO has never been sold and titled. Her equipment has extremely low hours and she remains in nearly new condition. Many people inspected her, but prior to the auction, no offer had been made. And so, in partnership with DeCaro Yacht Auctions International, TWO was offered for sale at an absolute auction in Fort Lauderdale on December 16, 2017.
From the moment the auction was announced, interest in the yacht skyrocketed. Multiple brokers from Spain to California reached out with interest, receiving the brokerage package from the auction house. The yacht was available for viewings prior to the live auction and saw a multitude of visitors. Prior to the auction, TWO received a comprehensive survey, the results of which were shared with all interested parties; she was available for sea trial by registered bidders on Sunday, December 10. As such, the sale at auction is final, subject only to closing per standard industry terms.
On December 16, the well-attended auction started. TWO was sold within 10 minutes to the highest bidder with no reserve hold-back by the seller.
Northrop & Johnson is pleased to be the largest yacht brokerage to facilitate the successful auction of a yacht, an opportunity that benefits both buyers and sellers. “We finally found a way to induce urgency in yacht sales,” said Northrop & Johnson Sales Broker Hank Halsted. “It was an extremely successful auction and an absolute thrill to experience. We hope more owners will consider this opportunity moving forward.”
