Employee Spotlight: Charter Manager Nicolas Fry

Northrop & Johnson spotlight Charter Manager Nicolas Fry. Nicolas is an avid sailor who brings a wealth of yachting industry experience to Northrop & Johnson. He has worked in several areas of the industry, which gives him a vast knowledge to assist his owners and charter yachts.

How did you get into the yachting industry and what led you to where you are today?

I joined yachting through a passion for sailing and was immediately attracted by the charter business. I learned the ropes as a yacht manager, got my captain license, and worked on board as a steward and deckhand. Since 2013, I have been promoting yachts on the charter market as a charter manager.

What do you think makes N&J special?

The amazing people who are working for this company. Also, the flat organization makes everyone an important part of the whole team.

What do you like most about your job?

Traveling and meeting people from all cultures and different social backgrounds. From the owners to the captains, brokers, and all others involved it is a fascinating world.

What accomplishment at N&J makes you most proud?

The fleet of 12 yachts, which I have brought together.

What is your favorite cruising destination and why?

Greek Islands for their deep blue waters, fantastic hospitality, and preserved culture.

If you had a yacht what type of yacht would you have?

A classic sailing yacht, preferably a wooden sloop of 98 feet (30m).

If you had a yacht where would you spend the most time aboard?

Circumnavigating the oceans.

What’s your favorite activity you enjoy with friends/family?

Sharing good moments, such as a good meal, a great party, or a long walk in nature!

What is one fun/unique fact about yourself?

I love cycling and have crossed several European countries on my bike for charity.
