N&J’s Nicolas Fry to Cycle from London to Monaco to raise funds for our oceans.
Coinciding with the annual Monaco Yacht Show, the challenging London to Monaco bike ride returns for its fifth year. Raising funds for the Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE), yachting industry professionals will cycle more than 1,000 km over eight days to support sustainable marine initiatives. The grueling ride, which is broken down into eight stages, commences in London on the 20 September, with riders crossing the finishing line in Monaco on the 27 September.
“London to Monaco will once again be a fantastic opportunity for me to do my part in raising funds and awareness to help protect our ocean,” says N&J Charter Manager Nicolas Fry, who will be taking part for the third time.
This year the route sees riders heading East from London to Essex, where they will overnight by ferry to the Netherlands. The route continues through Belgium into Northern France, heading south to the French Alps, where the legendary Tour de France road provides the ultimate challenge before finally cycling into the Prince’s Palace Square in Monaco.
Nicolas is one of a hundred participants raising funds and awareness for BLUE. The NGO aims to restore health to the ocean by combatting overfishing and the destruction of biodiversity through the creation of marine reserves, models for sustainable fishing, and the restoration of marine habitats. To put it into perspective, BLUE has helped protect over four million square kilometers of ocean in just eight years. By raising funds through challenges, such as the London to Monaco Bike Ride, participants like Nicolas and all those supporting with donations can make a significant difference to the state of our ocean. In four years, 375 riders, along with their supporters, have helped raise over £1,700,000 for BLUE’s ocean conservation work, with 2019’s ride being the most successful yet. To help make 2022 an even more successful ride and to motivate Nicolas and the team to push those pedals, donations can be made here.
