NORTHROP & JOHNSON INTRODUCES N&J PRIVATE INSURANCE SERVICES

Through N&J Private Insurance Services, clients will receive specialized yacht insurance, which includes hull and machinery, P&I, navigation, crew medical, pollution, kidnap and ransom, new build, ship repairers’ liability program, charter cancellation, charterers liability and more.

At the helm of N&J Private Insurance Services is Managing Director and Board member John Gaffney and Senior Vice President of Underwriting Laura Sherrod – two of the most qualified and respected names in the yacht insurance world.

John has extensive yachting industry experience, having worked with such yacht industry leaders as Ferretti, CRN, Hatteras, Bertram, Sealine, Sea Ray and Marine Max, Inc. His comprehensive marine, engineering and sales background working in the U.S., Europe, Middle and Far East greatly aids him in his ability provide clients with industry leading service. Prior to joining N&J Private Insurance Services, he was acting MARSH Senior Vice President / Yacht Practice from 2014 to 2018. Now as Managing Director for N&J Private Insurance Services, John will focus his efforts on Northrop & Johnson’s in-house, bespoke service that aligns with the company’s ideals of honesty, integrity and top quality.

Laura Sherrod has been in the yacht insurance industry since 1987 with her first job at C.A. Hansen. Hansen was the first yacht insurance specialty agency in the United States where Laura learned the Lloyd’s insurance market from the best names in the business. In 1995, Hansen became Brown and Brown Marine; there Laura managed and built the marine team for 13 years. In 2008, Laura was asked to head the wholesale division of Atlass Insurance where she worked to build yacht programs valued up to $200 million in the U.S. and abroad. Now with N&J Private Insurance Services Laura is taking on the exciting challenge of helping to build this new division.

This vertical integration is an added benefit to Northrop & Johnson clients who will receive nothing but five-star service for all their yachting needs.
