Superyacht News — February 2021

From the latest yachts sold to the newest yachts on the market to the hottest charter yachts available, Northrop & Johnson rounded up highlights from the last 30 days to bring you yachting news from around the globe.

YACHT SALES

Thus far, 2021 continues to be a busy year for yachts sales with another 55 yachts sold in the last 30 days alone. The breakdown of sales by length is below.

• 18  under 98 feet (30m)
• 25 between 98 feet (30m) and 147 feet (45m)
• 11 were between 147 feet (45m) to 230 feet (70m)
• 1 above 230 feet (70m)

Several notable sales include the iconic 178-foot (54.27m) Alloy sailing yacht TIARA, the historic 143-foot (43.59m) Heesen superyacht OCTOPUSSY and the 207-foot (63.3m) Royal Denship FORCE BLUE, which sold at auction.

As 55 yachts leave the market, 78 new yachts arrive. The breakdown of new yachts to the market by length is below.

• 32 under 98 feet (30m)
• 31 between 98 feet (30m) and 147 feet (45m)
• 9 between 147 feet (45m) and 197 feet (60m)
• 6 above 197 feet (60m)

While there have been a number of great yachts to hit the market,  three notable listings to highlight include the 198-foot (60.35m) Feadship ROCK.IT, which was launched in 2014 and recently hit the market. It is very rare to find a recently build Feadship of this size available for sale. Heesen’s 164-foot (50m) PROJECT SAPPHIRE is another notable new listing as she is due for completion and delivery next year. The iconic 303-foot (58m) TATOOSH has come on the market as well. This well-known superyacht was launched in 2000 by German yacht Nobiskrug, at which time she was the 12th largest yacht in the world.

In addition, several yachts have had price reductions in an effort to stimulate interest. We’ve rounded up the largest price reductions in the last 30 days:

• The 190-foot (58m) Abeking & Rasmussen superyacht LADY SHERIDAN received a $5,000,000 price reduction and is now asking $34,950,000
• The 180-foot (55m) Admiral motor yacht QUINTA ESSENTIA received a €2,000,000 price reduction and is now asking €22,000,000.
• The 213-foot (65m) Nicolina superyacht YAAKUN, built in 1987 with a significant refit in 2017, received a €1,500,000 price reduction and is now asking€6,500,000 — making this a lot of yacht for the money.
• The 144-foot (44m) Feadship MOON SAND received a €1,000,000 price reduction and is now asking €26,950,000. She represents a wonderful opportunity to own a sub-500 GT Feadship of recent construction.

CHARTER YACHTS

There also is a great deal of activity in the charter market with many new yachts joining the global charter fleet. Notable additions within the last 30 days include:

• The classically styled 183-foot (55.9m) Turquoise superyacht BLUE II built and delivered in 2020. This unique yacht will be offering charters in the Mediterranean for the time being, but it is worth noting that she has an ice-classed hill so, we will see what her future holds.
• The 130-foot (40m) PANAM, which just came on the charter market. She’s also chartering in the Mediterranean, in Spain’s beautiful islands to be exact, and speed demons will be interested in the impressive 31 knots she can provide. PANAM was delivered last year by the CCN shipyard in Italy, which is part of the Baglietto Group. She has several exceptional features that charter guests will love, including a float-in/float-out tender garage for a 17-foot (5m) Castoldi and a sumptuous water-level beach club.
• The 106-foot (32.6m) Nurmarine explorer yacht 7 DIAMONDS is now available in the Caribbean. She has six staterooms accommodating up to 12 guests and comes complete with a host of water toys, including Sea Bobs, snorkeling gear and a 37-foot (11.2m) Axopar chase boat that will really allow you to explore some of those magnificent Caribbean bays.
