In fact, the most significant news over the last several weeks has been from a shipyard famous for building the world’s largest yachts, Lürssen. In addition, we bring you the latest sold yachts and the newest yachts for sale and charter.

NORTHROP & JOHNSON NEWS

Northrop & Johnson is happy to announce the sale of the 236-foot (72m) Tankoa superyacht SOLO. This announcement marks Northrop & Johnson’s largest sale of this year and comes hot on the heels of a number of other successful sales in the month of April.

Northrop & Johnson is also proud to partner with Ulysse Nardin, the pioneering manufacturer inspired by the sea and delivering innovative timepieces. In celebration of their 175th Anniversary, Ulysse Nardin is presenting the UFO, they describe it as a work of art. A piece of design; something architectural; a wave made mechanical; a brand-new odyssey into unchartered horological waters.

YACHT BUILDER NEWS

Lürssen yachts, famous for building iconic vessels such as DILBAR, AZZAM, and the recently launched NORD surprised the industry recently during their live stream event called Lürssen Live. Here they spoke about research they have been conducting in partnership with the German government to develop hydrogen fuel cells capable of powering a yacht with methanol fuel cells. Each cell produces hydrogen that in turn creates energy with zero emissions. Only moist air is created as a by-product. They also announced that they have a client who is willing to build the first yacht using this revolutionary technology, which they believe will put them on the path to creating yachts with zero emissions. A significant breakthrough for the industry.

The Lürseen production team in Hamburg has also busy. They are launching the hull and superstructure of the impressive PROJECT OPERA. This 479-foot (146m) superyacht will now be taken by water to one of Lurssen’s other facilities, where she will be fitted out and completed. Delivery is expected to be in 2022.

YACHT SALES

The brokerage market is extremely vibrant and active right now, with more than 88 yachts coming to market in the last 30 days alone. Of those yachts, we would like to showcase a newly listed Benetti, a Delta Marine, and a Westport that are especially interesting.

MOCA is a 208-foot (63.3m) Benetti yacht with a remarkable volume of over 1000 gross tons. The yacht was delivered in 2016 and has recently completed an $8,000,000 refit. Full of exceptional features, she is well worth taking a look at in Fort Lauderdale. She is asking price is €39,950,000.

Also, currently available for viewing in Fort Lauderdale is the 156-foot (47.5m) Delta Marine ROCHADE. This superyacht was delivered in 2011 and has just completed her 10-year Lloyds survey as well as a mechanical refit that included fitting Quantum Zero Speed stabilizers. Her asking price is $20,950,000.

The final newly listed yacht we would like to highlight is the gorgeous 125-foot (38.1m) Westport CASTLEFINN. This is such a popular yacht model, and it is rare to find such a recent launch on the market. CASTLEFINN is less than two years old and has an asking price of $21,995,000.

There also a strong sales market, with 56 yachts sold worldwide in just the last 30 days. The smallest on this list is an 80-foot (24m) Hatteras named LA MER, and the largest 251-foot (76m) Amels named BOADICEA.

255′ (78m) Abeking & Rasmussen AMARYLLIS

There have been several notable price reductions in the past 30 days. The sensational 255-foot(78m) AMARYLIS delivered by Abeking & Rasmussen in 2011 had a €9,000,000 price reduction, taking her price from €99,000,000 to €90,000,000.

The 229-foot (70m) Amadeus Yacht FELIX has had both a price reduction and a currency change, from $49,000,000 to €38,500,000. Additionally, the recently launched 223-foot (68m) Abeking a& Rasmussen SOARING has had a €7,000,000 price reduction from €105,000,000 to €98,000,000.

YACHT CHARTER

165′(50m) Mangusta AAA

On the charter side, the most notable new addition to the market is the brand new Mangusta 165 AAA. Featuring six cabins, a Hamman spa, and SeaKeeper gyroscopic stabilizers, she promises to be very popular and is asking €250,000 per week.

There are also a very enticing special offer available at the moment as well as a last-minute availability. The 95-foot (29m) Monte Carlo yacht VIVALDI, which charters in Croatia has announced no delivery fees in the Adriatic Sea for charters of one week or more booked in low season. Not only is Croatia one of the world’s most desirable charter destinations, but VIVALDI and her crew also offer a highly desirable combination. She charters for €86,000 per week in high season and €72,000 per week in low season. The 246-foot (74m) Oceanco superyacht WHEELS has announced last-minute availability in The Bahamas. This gorgeous Sam Sorgiovanni designed vessel had a recent refit and can host 12 guests cared for by a crew of 21. She charters for €580,000 per week.

With Lürssen announcing such a breakthrough in emission-free cruising, yacht sales vibrant, and so many opportunities in the charter market, it really does look like the future is positive for yachting, and this could be the year for you to spend more time out on the water.
