My Present
Hi, my name is Nicolas Fry. I am French, married and a proud father of four beautiful children. I have been working as a charter manager for the last four years at Northrop & Johnson. With 10 years of experience in yachting as crew, yacht manager, and now charter marketing manager, I now manage the marketing & bookings of a large fleet of classic and modern yachts for charter. I have an expansive network of industry professionals, a wide experience in charter and the personal drive to ensure yachts in my fleet are the most sought after on the market. I am always bringing new ideas, a breath of creativity, and a fun-filled atmosphere.
My Past
As a sailor, I was always attracted to beautiful boats. However, it took me a while to find my way into yachting. A student of marketing, I experienced the rise and fall of the dot-com bubble while working for a start-up selling ski holidays. I then worked as marketing director for the Stade Français, a rugby club in Paris, before deciding to drop everything and travel with my wife. We enjoyed a lifetime trip around the world visiting 15 countries in 12 months and working for a charity in Kolkata, educating children. Upon returning, I moved to the Mediterranean shores of Nice. My father bought a sailing yacht called Django Too and asked me to help market her for charter. This was my first step into yachting.
I spent several years moving around the industry, working as a charter broker, yacht manager, crew manager and now, charter manager. The more I worked with captains, the more I felt the need to get out and learn about life at sea. I spent six months getting my Captain’s license and decided to have an experience aboard as crew. In May 2012, I joined a sailing yacht as a steward for the charter season in the Mediterranean. It was a great experience where everything came into place and suddenly gave sense to all that I had learned before.
My Future
I have always had a passion for hospitality and travel. I want to discover new destinations and explore the wonders of our world for years to come while organizing fantastic holidays for our clients aboard their yachts or even on shore. I would love to own a special place for welcoming people from around the world and spending quality time with them.
My Motto
“Everything that is not given is lost;
In Love with life… In life with love!”
My Outside-office Life
First, I love to educate and take care of my four children: Emma, Jules, Naomi and John. I spend as much time as possible with them and we do all kinds of activities. I also practice many sports including running, swimming, and cycling. I play tennis and golf, and I love to hike and ski in the mountains.
Fast Facts
Admiration and respect for the ocean have been a part of my life since I learned sailing.
I’ve taken part in the London to Monaco cycle ride organized by the Blue Foundation and we raised more than 600,000 € for ocean conservation while cycling together.
As a charter manager, I promote yacht experiences for clients to enjoy the richness of our ocean.
The appeal of venturing out to sea will be greatly reduced if the coral reefs are bleached, the fish are dead, the coastlines polluted and the once crystal blue waters murky with oil and plastic.
I want my children to see that I am an active participant in pursuing change and that it can be accomplished by coming together and setting off on a great adventure.
