My Present
Hi, my name is Amy Wachmann and I’m a Charter Broker that helps make my clients' dreams of yacht charters for their holidays a reality.
My Past
I spent my childhood in Texas and my family moved to Alaska in my teens where my love for the outdoors was ignited. I spent my summers during college working on wildlife cruises in Juneau. After graduating with a BA in Journalism at the University of Oregon and a minor in Spanish, I headed to Fort Lauderdale to quell my thirst for travel by working on yachts. I worked on busy charter yachts for five years cruising the Caribbean, Bahamas, New England, Mediterranean and Hawaii. One of the yachts was the 166’ NADINE, owned by the Wolf of Wall Street, Jordan Belfort. I was onboard with him, his family and 10 other crewmembers when the yacht sank off the coast of Sardinia. Thankfully everyone was rescued by the Italian Coast Guard. Wanting to go land-based, I started a yacht agency in Juneau, Alaska to assist the many yachts heading that way with itineraries and guidance for cruising Alaska’s majestic passages. After seven years of living bi-coastal between Florida and Alaska, I decided to plant my roots down in Fort Lauderdale and joined Northrop & Johnson where I was a Charter Manager before transitioning to my current role as a Charter Broker. I’ve been at Northrop & Johnson for over 11 years and I am a member of IYBA and MYBA. I am based out of Fort Lauderdale but make time for frequent visits back to Alaska for the fresh mountain air and great hiking and fishing.
My Future
I’d like to continue as a Charter Broker and establish long-term relationships with my clients to provide memorable yacht holiday charter vacations. I also have a few places around the world on my bucket list that I have yet to see such as Australia, South America and Croatia.
