Hi, I’m Brian Fisher, a yacht broker with Northrop & Johnson. After nearly three decades of living and working in Newport, Rhode Island — one of the world’s great yachting hubs — I’m proud to be part of a brand so deeply rooted in yachting history. With a background in both new and brokerage yacht sales, I bring a hands-on, client-first approach to every transaction, helping buyers find their next perfect yacht.
My Past
I grew up sailing the forgiving waters of Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, where my passion for sailboat racing first took hold. From there, my career on the water took off — I spent more than a decade racing throughout New England and the Caribbean, competing alongside some of the world’s top sailors. In the early days, we delivered race boats offshore from Newport to the BVI and Antigua — experiences that were equal parts thrilling and humbling. I also logged time cruising, including delivering a yacht from Tahiti to New Zealand.
After coming ashore, I joined a renowned sailboat rigging company in Newport, which was later acquired by Southern Spars, the global leader in carbon fiber spars and rigging. Transitioning into technical sales, I collaborated with many of the world’s fastest cruising and racing yachts. While still racing professionally, I discovered a love for cruising with my family — a passion that continues today.
Since entering yacht sales in 2021, I’ve enjoyed combining my technical expertise and on-the-water experience to guide buyers through the process. Splitting my time between Newport, Rhode Island, and Miami, Florida, allows me to serve clients across a wide range of markets — and always leaves room for trips to the Bahamas and Nantucket.
My Approach
My approach to yacht sales is simple: honesty and integrity always come first. Clients often describe me as a "straight shooter," and I take pride in making the buying and selling process as smooth and transparent as possible.
Outside the Office
Outside the office, I stay active through cycling — competing in several races each year, often alongside my son. I also participate in fundraising rides such as the Pan-Mass Challenge, supporting cancer research and care. My wife and I split our time between Miami and Newport with our Labrador, Louie.
Fast Facts
I have a son who recently graduated from GW University and a daughter at Stanford University. They make me proud every single day.
My wife and I have traveled to Harbour Island, The Bahamas, every year for thirty years. I tease her that one day we’ll live there — you never know!
