Founded in 1985 in Vancouver, Washington by Dave Christensen, Christensen Shipyards enjoyed three decades as one of America’s foremost luxury motor yacht builders.
A pioneer in fiberglass construction, Christensen built and delivered 44 yachts from 115’ to 164’ (35 to 50m) over 30 years, starting first with all-custom builds before transitioning into semi-custom offerings in the mid-1990s. Its headquarters in Vancouver later expanded to include a superyacht facility in Tellico Lake, Tennessee. The builder was known for its cutting-edge construction processes, including large-scale vacuum infusion coupled with proprietary in-house techniques to ensure superior hull strength for each ocean-going vessel. A unique selling point of Christensen was that everything is done in-house by master boat builders, from elegant woodwork to elaborate stonework, custom upholstery, and electrical installations. This ensures the highest quality and complete control of the entire production process.
The company may have closed its doors in 2020, but its reputation for quality and the continued demand for its builds on the brokerage market has underscored the quality of this iconic builder.
