SHIP'S ALARM, MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEM (SAMCS) 

• The vessel features a fully comprehensive alarm and monitoring system which integrates some control functions. 
• The system is PC based (by GUI – Graphical User Interface) and features two PC's with touch-screen monitors at 
• Engine room and crew mess, and track-ball operated monitors on deck in the aft cockpit pedestals. 
• The two PCs are running in parallel (hence creating the necessary redundancy) and interact with a set of PLCs  that control the majority of the onboard systems such as: main engine, generators, electrical system, hydraulic  system, tank levels, fuel & water systems, bilges, fire detection. The system also integrates a Cosworth VMMS  (Vessel Motion Monitoring System) that monitors and records longitudinal, lateral, and vertical acceleration as  well as the degree of roll, trim, and yaw. 

CCTV SYSTEM 

• The CCTV system comprises of 2 remotely controllable cameras (pan & zoom) integrated to the MaxSea  navigation. Cameras located in engine room (2).  

FIRE FIGHTING 

• Engine room is protected by a fixed Novec type fire-extinguishing installation. The 52 kg storage bottle is fitted in  the engine room with manual remote release just outside the engine room. The system integrates emergency  fuel and blowers shut offs. 
• A suitable number of portable fire extinguishers charged with different types of extinguishants such as AFFF foam,  dry powder, and CO2 are also onboard. All fire extinguishers are serviced / certified. The fire / bilge pump fitted  in the engine room supply 3 hydrants (at forepeak, lazarette, and on deck). Correct fire hose & spray nozzle were  noted adjacent to each hydrant. 
• The same pump through different lines supplies also the chain wash system and wastewater tanks flushing. An  emergency 'stand-alone' diesel driven pump is fitted in the lazarette as backup to either primary fire or bilge  pumps. 
• Central Fire Alarm System is fitted in the crew mess with smoke or heat detectors throughout the vessel’s interior. 

LIFE SAVING EQUIPMENT 

• Two Zodiac 8-person SOLAS A type life rafts and one 6- person SOLAS A type life raft are located in the main  cockpit; these are normally stored in dedicated float-free lockers at main cockpit (1 raft) and aft cockpit (2 rafts). 
• All 3 rafts are contained in hard canisters and equipped with Hydrostatic Release Units (HRUs). 
• Two MOB recovery modules are fitted on the Pushpit. 
• An adequate number of inflatable type lifejackets are aboard. 
• A McMurdo 406 EPIRB was noted on deck and equipped with a HRU. The unit is correctly registered. 
• Breathing Apparatus sets and line throwers were also noted onboard.
