DESTINATION is a tried and true world cruiser built for voyages from the tropics to the polar climates. She is in immaculate condition courtesy of a meticulous maintenance schedule, generous budget and loving care from two owners and one main captain that has been with her for most of her life. DESTINATION has benefitted from substantial refits every five years of her life. In her last refit that wrapped up in December 2020 with over $4 million spent, she benefitted from significant works including a major rig survey completion, exterior repaint of the entire yacht, a renovated interior including re-veneer of the upper salon/pilothouse walls using wood from the original stock of the boat, all overheads, flooring and soft goods were replaced and her engine, generators and systems were replaced, refurbished and serviced as necessary. She completed her 20-year ABS class survey in 2021 and passed with flying colors. The current condition of DESTINATION is, in one word, extraordinary. She has maintained her original practicality and appeal and boasts all the modern features optimized for owner and guest comfort.
DESTINATION’S interior is modern with a timeless layout. A lovely combination of neutrals and pops of color makes the ambiance warm, welcoming and fun. Forward of the cockpit through the double sliding doors is the upper salon/pilothouse. There is a generous lounge area with a deep sofa, a custom bar and a dining table for eight guests. The inside steering station has instruments and controls housed in a panel that lowers out of sight when not in use. The upper salon is filled with natural light that flows down into the main salon. There are stairs that lead down to the lower main salon that has been configured to be used as a dedicated lounging and living area complete with a 70-inch TV, large, comfortable sofas and chairs and a stunning handcrafted coffee table that is the focal piece of the room. The generous, U-shaped galley is forward of the salon where the chef can prepare delightful meals onboard.
DESTINATION welcomes eight guests in four beautifully-appointed cabins. The styling is luxurious and cozy with high-quality linens, silk and soft paneling and natural light. The master suite is full-width and consists of a bedroom area, a private daybed space and an en-suite bath. The bed is center-stage in the stateroom with nightstands on both sides and plenty of storage for belongings. There are two identical staterooms forward, each offering a centerline queen-size bed, sofa, closet and bedside nightstands. An additional smaller cabin features a full bed and a Pullman berth. An en-suite bathroom accompanies each additional guest cabin. DESTINATION accommodates six crewmembers in three cabins.
DESTINATION’s exterior lines are sleek and appealing to the eye. The visual impact is even greater thanks to her fresh custom paint application, achieved in the 2019/2020 refit. She received new decks in 2014 that were completely re-caulked in 2022. DESTINATION’s deck includes social areas at the forward cockpit when the tender is launched and the aft cockpit with the full dining setup and custom sofa. Drop-down curtains protect the cockpit during inclement weather and custom mats can be placed on the aft deck for sunbathing. Her opening transom provides a platform for easy tender boarding and access to the water along with a shower and dimmable lighting. A big achievement during the last refit, DESTINATION now features a totally custom second boarding platform to starboard midships. Part of the hull swings down to provide a very stable, very safe platform for tender access or water sports. This also serves as a “beach club” with its shower, lighting, built-in storage and a protected bench.
Destination, launched late 2002 and delivered early 2003, turns heads in every port. Her Dubois/Alloy Yachts pedigree is one of the world’s best. Add the original Redman Whiteley interior with the later Reymond Langton Design input and you have an internationally celebrated combination that’s hard to beat.
Destination’s excellent sailing performance and ever-popular exterior and interior design are timeless.
