The 46m (152’) Feadship EXPLORA is of impeccable pedigree, built in 1985 and maintained to the highest standard by a dedicated owner. A classic with a timeless, bespoke Pembroke & Ives interior, not a single expense has been spared: she was completed a full rebuild in 2002 under the supervision of Feadship, with additional refits in 2008 and most recently in 2017 at the Balk shipyard, Holland. EXPLORA has subsequently been run to ensure that all annual maintenance and capital expenditure are completed as required to keep her in immaculate condition.
Upon boarding the main deck aft, guests are greeted by a shaded alfresco dining area with seating for up to 12 and a comfortable seating area with a coffee table and bar. Double doors lead into the main salon, a comfortable, convivial space featuring an upright piano, an L-shaped sofa to port facing a coffee table, and two upholstered armchairs. A round card table with four chairs completes the laid-back room. Her design, best described as Hampton’s Beach House style, sets EXPLORA apart from other vessels of similar heritage and creates a chic, relaxed atmosphere.
Forward, the main dining salon features an impressive mahogany table set athwartships. Clever, electrically controlled opaque panels and sliding doors can separate the room from the main salon should privacy be desired.
EXPLORA’S skylounge, accessed via a beautiful staircase from the lobby, features a pair of easy chairs and a sofa, upholstered in white and grouped around a coffee table and flat-screen TV. A wet bar forward to port and a curved glass sliding door open the room to the boat deck, where the vessel’s tenders, jet skis, gym equipment and water toys are stored. From here, guests can access the sundeck via a staircase to starboard. The sundeck is home to the yacht’s Jacuzzi, seating/dining tables, a large barbecue and lounge chairs.
The master stateroom aboard EXPLORA is impressive, with stunning high-gloss mahogany and a white-paneled ceiling that sets a welcoming tone. This full-beam stateroom features a king-size bed, private study, abundant storage, and an en-suite bathroom with a whirlpool tub. Five additional staterooms are found below deck, comprising two doubles and two twins and a fifth convertible cabin that can be used as a spa or twin stateroom.
Explora was built in 1985 by Van Lent Feadship with naval architect H.W. DeVoogt. In 2002, the yacht under previous ownership was fully rebuilt from stem to stern, top to bottom. There was not one area of the yacht that was not rebuilt, replaced, or refurbished. All work on the yacht was done in co-operation with Feadship to make sure that the Feadship integrity and name was enhanced in the overall restoration.
In 2008 there was an addition of a Jacuzzi on the sundeck and zero speed stabilizers. Under her current ownership, Explora underwent a further significant refit in 2017 at Balk Shipyard, Holland where she was fully repainted and one of the guest staterooms was converted into a guest spa.
With a timeless interior by Pembroke & Ives, Explora is a truly spectacular vessel maintained to the highest level by an experienced crew and dedicated owner.
Beginning aft on the main deck, the aft deck, sheltered by the boat deck above, has a 12-person dining table to starboard, a comfortable seating area with coffee table aft and bar forward to port. Double doors lead forward to the main saloon.
Her main salon is a comfortable and relaxing room with an upright player piano, forward of which is a white upholstered L shaped sofa to port facing a coffee table and two upholstered armchairs. A round card table with four chairs is forward to starboard aft of which is the staircase to the guest staterooms below.
The dining saloon forward has an impressive mahogany dining table set athwartships. This room can be secluded from the main saloon with sliding doors and clever electrically controlled clear opaque panels.
The galley is forward to port, while a wide passageway to starboard leads forward past the impressive stainless-steel staircase to the sky lounge, to the full beam Master Suite.
Explora’s master cabin is an impressive suite, entirely panelled in high gloss mahogany with a white panelled ceiling and white carpet. The owner’s study, with extensive wardrobe has a large desk facing the window to starboard. The stateroom is full beam and has a king size bed in the centre forward and more than adequate hanging lockers, drawers, and storage. The master bathroom, aft to port, has a whirlpool bathtub, stall shower, twin sinks and a makeup desk.
On the lower deck aft there are five guest staterooms, two with double beds and two with twin berths, the final cabin being used as a guest spa which had a fixed pullman bed added in 2022 with a twin XL. A bright, clean feel is provided by the white panelling, stainless or nickel hardware and fixtures, blue carpeting, and bright finished accents in the ensuite bathrooms.
The sky lounge is reached via a beautiful staircase from the starboard lobby. A pair of easy chairs and a sofa, upholstered in white are grouped around a coffee table and face a flat screen TV for a perfect movie night. A wet bar is forward to port and curved glass sliding doors open this room to the boat deck.
Her bridge deck aft houses the vessel’s tenders, jet skis, gym equipment and other water toys. A staircase on the starboard side leads up to the sun deck.
Explora’s sundeck offers casual seating around two tables with a shaded awning area. A large stainless-steel barbeque is set in the aft structure of the mast and four teak steamer lounge chairs offer a perfect spot to relax in the sun. Forward of the mast is a large jacuzzi flanked on each side by bar tops and three bar stools. Protection from the sun at the height of the day is provided by shade panels.
She has accommodations for 11 crew in 6 cabins. Forward on the lower deck, forward of the engine room, the crew mess is to starboard with large pantry, fridge, and freezer storage to port. Further forward are four twin berth ensuite cabins with enormous storage below the sole in the typical Feadship fashion. The captain’s ensuite cabin is above the wheelhouse on the port side and another twin ensuite crew cabin is to starboard.
