The Hystream HS 80 is setting a new benchmark in sustainable yachting with its hydrogen-electric propulsion system and fully autonomous navigation capabilities. At 82’4” (25.1m), this ultra-efficient, zero-emission catamaran is designed for energy independence, integrating cutting-edge bifacial solar panels, solid-state supercapacitors, and hydrogen storage. Every element of its build prioritizes sustainability, performance, and luxury, making it one of the most advanced vessels on the water today.
Built by Hystream Yachts, the HS 80 features green hydrogen creation onboard for an electric propulsion system that eliminates emissions while maintaining high efficiency. Its hybrid propulsion configuration consists of a parallel electric drive system supported by a diesel engine for high speeds, ensuring redundancy and extended range. The yacht's bifacial solar panels increase energy capture by harnessing sunlight from both sides, maximizing efficiency and allowing for energy-independent operation.
A key innovation onboard is the use of solid-state supercapacitors for energy storage. Unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries, these supercapacitors provide long-lasting, rapid-charge energy storage with a 30-year lifespan, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. The carbon fiber compressed hydrogen storage system enables safe fuel containment, setting a new standard for green energy solutions in yachting. Combined with an advanced energy management system, the HS 80 allows for remote monitoring and optimization, enhancing operational efficiency and onboard power distribution.
Performance is where the HS 80 truly excels. The catamaran reaches a top speed of 16 knots, with a cruising speed of 8 knots for efficient long-range travel. On stored hydrogen alone, it can cover 80 nautical miles with zero emissions, reinforcing its role as a future-proof vessel in sustainable yachting. Fully autonomous navigation, developed with Avikus & Raymarine AI-driven technology, allows for AI-assisted berthing, collision avoidance, and route optimization, making every journey smooth, efficient, and safe.
The spacious, multi-deck design offers exceptional comfort with a modern, eco-luxury interior focused on sustainability and smart living. Floor-to-ceiling windows throughout maximize natural light and panoramic ocean views, while the smart LED lighting system further enhances energy efficiency. The open-plan main salon blends high-end materials with advanced automation, creating a seamless transition between relaxation, dining, and entertainment. A fully equipped galley features premium appliances optimized for both efficiency and performance.
Accommodations are designed for eight guests across four cabins, with each guest suite featuring ensuite baths and modern, sustainable finishes. The owner’s suite is a standout, offering expansive ocean-view windows, a luxurious ensuite bath, and high-end sustainable materials. A dedicated crew area for four members ensures easy yacht operations.
The exterior is built for both efficiency and leisure. The aft deck is an open, functional space for alfresco dining and entertaining, connecting to the salon. The expansive flybridge provides panoramic views, comfortable seating, and additional social areas, while the forward deck offers a sunbathing lounge with integrated seating. At the stern, the beach club and swim platform provide easy water access and storage for tenders and water toys.
Beyond luxury, the HS 80 is a statement in sustainable engineering, featuring zero-emission propulsion, AI-driven automation, and energy-independent operation. Future-proofed through patented green hydrogen technology and infrastructure expansion plans, this catamaran is built for owners who demand cutting-edge performance without compromising environmental responsibility.
