The INFINITI 105 delivers a step-change in performance and comfort to the sailing superyacht world, with greater performance and comfort than any comparable yacht and reduced heeling and pitching. The Dynamic Stability Systems (DSS) foil has already proved to reduce heeling by as much as 30% and pitching (the principal reason for seasickness) by over 40%. This ensures that the INFINITI 105 is easy to sail, significantly faster and extremely comfortable when under sail. For the owner, this means extended cruising and happy guests who can enjoy the amenities and luxury aboard.
There are two bow options available: a reverse bow ā which has a more race-orientated and progressive feel, and a more traditional, vertical bow. The sheer lines are slightly adjusted as well, but all this, including the bow options, will be achieved using the same mold tooling, enabling the build to be client-driven without the need for changing the whole platform, a unique feature of the Infiniti Yachts design and build process.
Several options for layouts have been suggested, but the owner can drive the final design and details to suit their wishes. Various seating options are available in the cockpit, designed to best suit how the owner spends their time onboard. One arrangement is more suited to cruising, and the other offers more open space for ease of crew movement when competing.
The sleek glass superstructure echoes the curves of the Infiniti Design. The main salon seating is positioned beneath this, allowing for a dramatic influx of natural light to the interior. This arrangement also eradicates the traditional corridor that leads through a salon and creates a more dynamic and social space. The INFINITI 105 can accommodate six guests in three stunning cabins.
The yacht is constructed using pre-preg carbon fiber with a combination of foam and Nomex cores cured under vacuum to ensure a lightweight, stiff structure. There is the option of a hydraulic lifting keel to further improve performance and allow for access into shallower anchorages and ports. The draft range is between 5.6m and 3.6m, although this could be increased for a more performance-orientated evolution.
The DSS foil is operated by controls at the helm station, using proven and reliable systems. When mooring the yacht in a busy harbor, the foil does not impinge on the space required to berth, and when sailing, it is deployed whenever needed to increase comfort and performance. Typical heeling angles when using the DSS foil would be 12-15 degrees when reaching and less than 20 degrees when sailing upwind.Ā
The sail plan is open to customization but based on simple and effective options to ensure easy sailing. A self-tacking headsail and captive-controlled mainsheet ensure that sailing does not require an army of crew, and performance comes at the touch of a button.
