SORCERER II is a 95’ composite racing yacht built by Cookson Boats in Auckland in 1998 and designed by the legendary German Frers. Her sleek lines and impressive sail plan promise thrilling adventures on the water, whether you're racing at the highest level or setting sail on a global journey.

SORCERER II was owned for many years by genome scientist Craig Venter, who outfitted her for The Global Ocean Sampling Expedition then sailed through 23 countries across four continents in an extraordinary voyage of exploration and microbial research. She is a yacht that’s proven her worth not just in regattas but also in scientific voyages that explore the frontiers of marine biology. Her exceptional seaworthiness and durability are well documented, with SORCERER II’s adventures captured in the popular YouTube series "Cracking the Ocean Code." Whether you’re seeking a yacht for high-performance racing, leisurely cruising, or embarking on new explorations of your own, SORCERER II is ready for any adventure.

SORCERER II's racing pedigree is evident from her lightweight composite hull, designed for optimal speed and agility. Her hydraulic sail handling system makes managing her impressive rig easy, even with a small crew, giving you the best of both worlds—race-ready performance and the ability to handle leisurely cruising with ease. The carbon fiber mast and in-boom furling system, paired with captive reel winches and hydraulic furlers, ensure smooth and efficient sail management, leaving you free to enjoy the experience without the effort of complex maneuvers. Adding to her seaworthiness, the windshield in her main salon is 1” thick laminated, tempered glass and all of her portholes and fixed ports were upgraded from plexiglass to tempered glass.

Her accommodations offer a slice of comfort after a day of adventure. Up to eight guests can be accommodated in three spacious staterooms, with each space designed for extended voyages. The full-beam master suite, located aft, features a king-size berth and an en-suite head, complete with a full-size tub, separate shower, and ample storage. The twin guest staterooms are equally versatile, each featuring convertible berths that can be arranged as twin beds or queen-sized beds, depending on your guests’ needs. Additional Pullman berths offer extra sleeping options. With en-suite heads and spacious hanging lockers in each room, every detail is designed to make life aboard as relaxing as possible.

As you move through the yacht, the raised main salon will capture your attention with its panoramic views. Wraparound windows flood the space with natural light, making it the perfect spot to enjoy the surroundings. A dining table for six offers a lovely space for meals with friends and family, while the salon’s wet bar, complete with crystal display cabinets and an ice maker, sets the stage for cocktail hours. Just a few steps down, the lower salon offers a more intimate space to unwind, with a cozy library and theater area for entertainment.

The galley is practical and well-appointed, making it easy to prepare meals for extended trips. Three refrigerators and freezers, a gimballed stainless-steel stove, and a deep double sink provide everything needed to cook and store provisions.

The exterior spaces of SORCERER II are just as thoughtfully designed as her interiors. Her aft cockpit, shaded by a Bimini, offers a relaxing space to take in the views while under sail, while the private companionway leading directly to the owner’s suite provides a touch of exclusivity. For those who enjoy diving, the aft cockpit also features a scuba tank filling station, making it easy to explore beneath the waves as well as above them. Forward, the guest cockpit provides cushioned seating under a dodger and Bimini, creating a sheltered spot for guests to enjoy the ride in comfort. Her helm station is a model of efficiency and control, with full instrumentation at your fingertips and excellent visibility in all conditions. With the tender stowed securely on the foredeck and hydraulic windlasses managing her twin anchors, SORCERER II is ready for whatever adventure lies ahead.

Having undergone a series of recent refits, SORCERER II is in impeccable condition. Highlights of her upgrades include new fitted carpets, salon covers, fresh exterior canvas, and a new oven and dryer, all completed in 2024. Her topsides were repainted in 2023, and she received a full bottom job, including servicing of her prop, shaft, thrusters, and zincs. The mast and boom have been freshly painted, and new North 3DI sails were added in 2019. With these updates and more, SORCERER II has been lovingly maintained to the highest standards, ensuring she is fully equipped for her next chapter.
